FREE AVAILABLE CHLORINE
1.
Rinse the test tube (0106) with sample water. Fill to 10 mL line with
sample water.
2. Add one *Chlorine DPD #1R Tablet (6999A). Cap and mix until
tablet disintegrates.
3. Immediately insert test tube into Chlorine DPD Comparator (6978).
Match sample color to a color standard. Record as Reading #1. Do
not discard this sample if testing for Monochloramine, Dichloramine
or Total Residual Chlorine.
NOTE:
Reading should be made within one minute of adding
reagent.
Reading #1 = ppm Free Available Chlorine
MONOCHLORAMINE
4.
Add one Chlorine DPD #2R Tablet (6904A) to sample from Step 3.
Cap and mix until tablet disintegrates.
5. Insert test tube into Chlorine DPD Comparator (6978). Match
sample color to a color standard. Record as Reading #2.
Reading #2 - Reading #1 = ppm Monochloramine
DICHLORAMINE AND TOTAL RESIDUAL CHLORINE

Add one *Chlorine DPD #3R Tablet (6905A) to sample from Step 5.
Cap and mix until tablet disintegrates.
7. Insert test tube into Chlorine DPD Comparator (6978). Match
sample color to a color standard. Record as Reading #3.
Reading #3 - Reading #2 = ppm Dichloramine
Reading #3 = ppm Total Residual Chlorine
