The operator must determine whether the lifter is capable of performing each intended task, in
accordance with the SPECIFICATIONS and INTENDED USE sections of this
INSTRUCTIONS
manual. In addition, all of the following preparations must be completed prior to lifting any load.
Taking Safety Precautions
The operator must be trained in all relevant industry and regulatory standards for the operation
of the vacuum lifter in its geographical location (eg, ASME B30.20 in the USA).
The operator must read and understand this
INSTRUCTIONS
manual, including all
WARNINGS
,
before using the lifter. If necessary, contact Wood’s Powr-Grip or an authorized dealer for
assistance.
WARNING: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
The operator must wear any personal protective equipment and take any other precautions
required to handle the load safely. Consult appropriate trade association guidelines to determine
what precautions are necessary for each type of load material.
Performing Inspections and Tests
Perform all inspections and tests required by the I

(see
MAINTENANCE). In addition, if the lifter has been in storage, always conduct a V

before placing it in service (see MAINTENANCE).
Adjusting the Optional Center Arm
To Adjust the Center Arm Left and Right
1) Remove the cotterless hitch pins for the adjustable center arm as previously directed (see
ASSEMBLY: T

2) Slide the center arm to the desired location on the lifter's cross beam and align the holes for
the cotterless hitch pins.
3) Reinstall the cotterless hitch pins for the center arm as previously directed.
To Adjust the Vacuum Pad Position Up and Down
1) Remove the cotterless hitch pin from the sliding hand cup mount of the adjustable center
arm, by pulling on the pull ring.
2) Slide the cup mount downward or upward to the desired position for the vacuum pad, and
align the holes for the cotterless hitch pin in the cup mount with the corresponding holes in
the center arm.
3) Secure the cup mount by pushing the cotterless hitch pin through the holes until the retaining
ball emerges on the far side of the cup mount.
