Connecting AV Equipment

Connecting Composite (AV) Video Signal

Composite video input is the most commonly used signal input. However, this type of input also

provides a less optimal image quality. Many video sources can only output Composite video sig-

nals, for example, VCRs and camcorders. Other video sources, such as laser disc players, actu-

ally produce slightly better results when using Composite video.

Connecting S-Video Signal

An S-video signal provides a higher quality image to that of Composite video. It is recommended

to use this input whenever possible. If your AV equipment provides a component video output

), this should be used in preference to either composite or S-video signals.

Connect the Composite (AV) output of

your AV equipment to the Composite (AV)

signal terminal on the TV using a Compos-

ite (AV) video cable (RCA connector) as

illustrated.

Video game

Connect the S-Video output of your AV

equipment to the TV's S-VIDEO terminal

using an S-Video cable. Pay attention to the

direction of the connector on the S-Video

cable when inserting.
Connect the audio output of your AV

equipment to the S-Video output of your

AV equipment to the TV's S-VIDEO termi-

nal using an S-Video cable.
