4.11. Communications
The communication interface may differ according to the user’s hardware. The Gold Guitar can
communicate using the following options:
Standard EtherCAT

USB 2.0 USB 2.0
Ethernet RS-232 (TTL Logic Level)

For ease of setup and diagnostics of CAN communication, RS-232 and CAN may be used
simultaneously.
When the EtherCAT is connected, and FoE in operation, the USB cable connection
must be disconnected.
4.11.1. RS-232 Communication (J2)
The Gold Guitar provides RS-232 with TTL voltage level (Refer to the voltage level in the
technical specification in section 5.7 Communications). Therefore, to implement standard
RS-232, you must add a RS-232 Line Driver/Receiver on the integration board in order to
translate the TTL logic level to the standard RS-232 voltage level.
The following table describes the Gold Guitar RS-232 pinout:
