Versions from 2.45 on:
One can generally activate encryption of all Netc@p passwords over a registry entry. In this case,
they will be saved as 32 hexadecimal characters in an encrypted form.
The corresponding parameter in the registry:
Master:
“
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ads-tec\NetCapMaster
”
Encryption = 0 (
Encryption
off)
Encryption = 1 (
Encryption
on)
Slave:
“
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ads-tec\NetCapSlave
”
Encryption = 0 (
Encryption
off)
Encryption = 1 (
Encryption
on)
If this value is set to „1“, all Netc@p passwords will be saved in encrypted form. The passwords
read from the registry or INI files will be considered to be encrypted.
From version 2.45 on, the authentification of slaves on the master takes place in an encrypted form
regardless of this registry entry.
To ensure compatibility,
•
a slave older than 2.45 connects to a 2.45 or newer master with a plain text
password or,
•
a 2.45 or newer slave connects to master older than 2.45 with a plain text password
For an encrypted authentication, both slave and master must have at least the version 2.45.
