5.6 rePlacing The drive belT
the condition of the drive belt should be checked annually,
or after every 25 hours of operation. If the belt is cracked,
worn, frayed, or stretched, it should be replaced. Replace
it only with the original banded belt type, do not use single
belts.
To rePlace The belT:
Remove idler pulley by loosening the 1/2” mounting
hardware (see picture below).
lift belt idler pulley off the idler arm weldment.
Remove the drive belt from the pulleys and discard.
Install new belt on pulleys and lower belt idler.
Reinstall the belt idler pulley into the idler arm
weldment using the 1/2” hardware. tighten bolt to
proper torque.
Check belt tension before start-up. If necessary, adjust
spring tension.

the alignment of the pulleys should be checked if the
belts are showing unusual wear. to check the alignment,
run a straight edge along the engine and rotor pulleys.
Adjust the lower (engine) pulley if necessary to bring
them into alignment.

Unscrew the bolt to remove the idler pulley.-
After removing the belt idler pulley, the drive belt can be taken off.
