Index Search 51
The VCR automatically indexes each recording you make. Index
Search allows you to easily rewind or fast forward to the begin-
ning of your recordings.
Example:
If you are watching program number 4 and you want to fast for-
ward to program number 7, skip three programs.

Press the VCR button.

Press the INDEX SEARCH button.

Within 10 seconds, use the Number buttons to enter the
number of programs you want to skip. For example, to skip
three programs, press Number buttons 0, 3. If you do not make
an entry within 10 seconds, the VCR will exit Index Search mode.

Within 10 seconds, press the F.FWD/B button or the
REW(ind)/{ button to skip forward or backward. The
VCR will fast forward or rewind the tape to the beginning of the
desired program, then begin playback. (The program numbers
count down on the TV screen as the searching progresses. To
remove the on-screen counter, press the INDEX SEARCH button
once.)
• You may search up to 20 index
marks.
• Index Search is not possible during
recording.
• Press the STOP/p button to stop
the search.
• The time gap between index marks
should be greater than 1 minute for
SP recording, 2 minutes for LP
recording, and 3 minutes for SLP
recording. (LP recording is not possi-
ble on this VCR.)
• If the VCR reaches the end of the
tape during an Index Search, the
VCR will cancel the search and
rewind the tape. Details are on
page 45.
