shallbegiventoincreasestrengthandflexibilityofpiping
supportsandconnections.
CAUTION
Thesuppliedflexiblegaseouspipeisnottobeinstalled
undergroundorincontactwiththeground.
Theentireflexiblegaseouspipemustbevisiblefor
periodicinspectionandmustnotbeconcealedwithin,
contact,orrunthroughanywall,floor,orpartition.

• Pipingmustbeofthecorrectsizetomaintainthe
requiredsupplypressuresandvolumeflowunder
varyinggeneratorloadconditionswithallgas
appliancesconnectedtothefuelsystemturnedonand
operating.
• Useanapprovedpipesealantorjointcompoundonall
threadedfittingstoreducethepossibilityofleakage.
• Installedpipingmustbeproperlypurgedandleak
tested,inaccordancewithapplicablecodesand
standards.
WARNING
PropaneandNaturalGasareextremely
flammableandexplosive.
Fireorexplosioncancausesevereburnsor
death.
Beforeplacingthehomegeneratorintoservice,thefuel
systemlinesmustbeproperlypurgedandleaktested.

Consider the following factors when planning to install the
fuel supply system:
Thehomegeneratorengineisfittedwithafuelmixersystem
thatmeetsthespecificationsoftheCaliforniaAirResources
Boardfor“tamper-proof”fuelsystems.
• Aminimumofoneaccessible,approvedmanualshutoff
valveshallbeinstalledinthefuelsupplylinewithin
6ft(1.8m)ofthehomegenerator.Aunionorflanged
connectionshallbeprovideddownstreamfromthis
valvetopermitremovalofcontrols.
• Naturalgasfuelsupplypressureatthegenerator’sfuel
inletportshouldbebetween5to7inchesofwater(in.
W.C.)atfullload.
• LPgasfuelsupplypressureshouldbe11to14inches
ofwater(in.W.C.)atfullloadwithallgasappliances
turnedonandoperating.
Thehomegeneratorunithasbeenfactorysettorunon
naturalgasorLPgas.Theunitcannotbeconvertedfrom
naturalgastoLPgasorviceversa.
Itisrecommendedthatthefuelconnectionincorporatethe
followingcomponents:
• Amanualfuelshut-offvalvelocatedintheinteriorof
thebuilding.
• Amanualfuelshut-offvalvelocatedoutsidethe
building,justbeforethegeneratorunit.
• Wheretheformationofhydratesoriceisknownto
occur,pipingshouldbeprotectedagainstfreezing.The
terminationofhardpipingshouldincludeasediment
trapwherecondensateisnotlikelytofreeze.
• Amanometerportshouldbeprovided.
Themanometerportpermitstemporaryinstallationofa
manometertoensurethattheenginereceivesthecorrect
fuelpressuretooperateefficientlythroughoutitsoperating
range.
NOTE:Adigitalmanometer,P/N19495,isavailableatyour
localBriggs&Strattonservicecenter.
Whentheinitialtestrunsarecompleted,themanometer
isremovedandtheportisplugged.Atypicalfinalfuel
connectionassemblyisshownhere,where(A)isthefuel
supplyand(B)goestothehomegenerator.
