8. Draw lines on the stiff stabilizer 2 ¼” away from each side as a guide for
the center hole placement. Cut the hole in the stiff stabilizer about 2 ½”
square.
9. Peal off the fusible web paper backing and press to 7 ¼” square stiff
stabilizer (with hole cut). Use backing paper to keep fusible web off your
ironing surface. Use press cloth to cover embroidery while bonding to
stabilizer. Trim to 7” square.
10. Cut small hole in the center fabric and then clip to fold back on the stiff
stabilizer. Press into place.
11. Press fusible web to wrong side of the two pieces of fabric, which will
cover the frame back. Remove paper backing and press to other piece of
stiff stabilizer. Trim to 7” square.
12. Repeat process for frame easel. Draw a slanted line to shape each long
side of easel. The sample is slanted in ½” on each side.
Assembly:
1. Set up for sewing with open toe foot (SA147). With Brother polyester
lavender thread (804), sew with stitch 1-10 at 4.5 mm width and .3 mm
length. Stitch along the long sides of the easel and then lower edge,
catching one end of the ribbon in the stitching.
2. Stitch along the lower edge of the embroidered front with the same
settings. Trim any stray threads and repeat at 5 mm wide along these
areas if your coverage needs filling in.
3. Sew down end of ribbon as you work the 4.5 mm satin stitch to the lower
edge of the back. Position the easel to line up placement on back and
then attach top of easel with the 4.5 mm satin stitch. (See Photo 3 to see
final frame.)
4. Trim any stray threads and repeat at 5 mm wide along these areas if
your coverage needs filling in.
