Testing the Installation
This procedure explains how to test the media converter by performing a link
test. A link test will determine whether each port on the media converter is
successfully receiving a signal from the node connected to it. You should
perform this test immediately after you have installed the media converter or
whenever you are experiencing a problem with the unit. To perform a link
test, perform these steps:
1.
Verify that the Power LED on the media converter is green. If the LED is
OFF, check the following:
—
If installed as a standalone unit, check to be sure that the adapter
cable is securely connected to the back of the media converter and that
the power adapter is securely connected to a power outlet.
—
If installed in an AT-MCR12 chassis, check that the unit is fully seated
in the slot.
—
Verify that the power outlet has power by connecting another device
to it.
—
Try using another power adapter.
