Installing HP Storage Manager
IMPORTANT: Install the controller driver before installing HP Storage Manager.
IMPORTANT: You need administrator or root privileges to install HP Storage Manager. For
details on verifying privileges, refer to the operating system documentation.
HP Storage Manager is provided as a downloadable executable file on the HP
website,
http://www.hp.com.
Any updates of either the utility or the instructions for
installing and using the utility will be published to the same location.
Windows
1.
If a previous version of HP Storage Manager is already installed, remove it
before upgrading to the new version by using the Add/Remove Programs option
under Start>Settings>Control Panel.
2.
Insert the product installation CD, and wait for the Autorun executable to start
the installation. If this does not occur, browse the CD and click Autorun.
3.
When the installation wizard starts, follow the on-screen instructions to complete
the installation. When prompted to install SNMP, accept the default setting (Do
not install) unless you require HP Storage Manager to work with SNMP gets and
traps.
Linux
NOTE: HP Storage Manager includes the Java
TM
Runtime Environment (JRE).
1.
If a previous version of HP Storage Manager is already installed, remove it
before upgrading to the new version by entering the
rpm --erase StorMan
command. Any customization files you created when you used the previous
version are saved and used in the upgrade.
2.
Insert the product installation CD.
