About this Guide
Dear Milestone Customer,
With the purchase of Milestone XProtect Analytics – Generic VA
you have chosen a powerful and flexible analytics solution.
This guide is aimed at system administrators only. It
describes how to install XProtect Analytics – Generic VA. It also
includes a brief introduction to the Generic VA Administrator
application through which you subsequently configure your
analytics solution.
Where to find more information:
 For more detailed information about configuration
through the Generic VA Administrator application, refer
to the separate XProtect Analytics – Generic VA
Administrator’s Manual. The manual also contains
information about using positive address lists, about
combining analytics detections with surveillance
system events, etc.
 To use XProtect Analytics Generic VA, a third-party
video content analysis tool is required for supplying
data for XProtect Analytics. Which video content
analysis tool to use is entirely up to you, as long as the
data supplied by the tool adheres to the formatting
rules set out in the XProtect Analytics Generic VA
Interface Developer’s Manual.
 End users view analytics data together with video
through the XProtect Smart Client. For more
information about this, refer to the separate XProtect
Analytics User’s Manual.
