COOLING
CONNECTIONS: The highly polished aluminum
reflectors require liquid cooling to keep the reflecting surface from overheating. If the
reflectors overheat, the surface can become oxidized. When oxidation occurs, the
aluminum begins to absorb the energy from the lamps, rather than reflecting it to the
product, reducing the efficiency of the heater.
Each Model 4069 is designed with ‘quick-disconnect’ fittings protruding from the heater
cover. There is one inlet and one outlet sized for ½ inch O.D. Nylon 11 flexible tubing
(included with heater). Please refer to Specifications for proper water-cooling flow rates.
It is recommended to cool the Model 4069 using a closed-loop cooling system that is
sized properly for the size of the heater. The recommended cooling media is clean, de-
ionized, or distilled water. A water/glycol solution may also be used if required by the
closed loop cooling system.
Figure 5-4 details a typical installation for the Model 4069 heater.
