2) Connect 117VAC input wiring to the lug-type terminal strip labeled “117 VAC IN” (see dwg. below).
3) If 117VAC is not available, connect 24VDC to the terminal strip labeled “24 VDC IN”.
4) Connect RS-485 wiring from the multiplexer PCB assembly (Detcon part #5216) to the terminal strip
labeled “RS-485 IN”. RS-485 data wiring should consist of 2 conductor, shielded, twisted pair. Belden
part number 9841 is required. Terminate shield to the terminal strip but do not terminate the other end.

TART UP
Upon completion of all mechanical mounting and termination of all field wiring the system is ready for
power up. Before applying power be sure all appropriate systems and connections are up and running that
are being used in conjunction with the remote mount multiplexer PCB assembly. Once powered up, the
RD-4X monitor will display all applicable information in accordance with information provided in this
manual. No adjustments are necessary.
If necessary, reference document #1741, for information on the multiplexor PCB assembly (Detcon part #5216).

ARRANTY
Detcon, Inc., as manufacturer, warrants under intended normal use each new RD-4X Remote Display to be
free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of shipment to the
original purchaser. Should the remote display fail to perform in accordance with published specifications
within the warranty period, return to Detcon, Inc., 2408 Timberloch Place, Bldg. D-1, The Woodlands,
Texas 77380, for necessary repairs or replacement. All warranties and service policies are FOB the Detcon
facility located in The Woodlands, Texas.
