PERATION
In operation, the RD-4X receives information from up to 16 remote sensor devices via the RS-485 data line
and displays that information on its graphic LCD display. The information includes gas type and concen-
tration present at the sensor location.
An alarm 1 (low) condition will cause the applicable channels reading to be shown in reverse video. An alarm 2
(high) condition will cause the applicable channels reading to flash between normal video and reverse video in 2
second intervals. As alarm conditions pass, the display will return to its normal condition.

OFTWARE
In order to properly display the conditions at each sensor location, the remote display’s microprocessor
must be programmed to properly recognize each sensor location’s gas type, range of detection, and alarm
set points. The location of each sensor is also needed so as to provide a custom adhesive label that should
be placed on the face plate next to the display. These requirements are usually accomplished before ship-
ment of the product from the Detcon factory. If setup is required or a new configuration will be used, refer
to the “Remote Display Sensor Configuration Form” which makes up the last two pages of this manual.
