1. Safety and protection measures
1.1 General notes on safety
The armature control RF20M (EXmatic 450) was
designed in such a way that there is no danger
when the general safety references and the
operating instructions are observed.
- Therefore first read the operating instructions.
- Installation of and service to the armature
control may only be done if you have read and
understood all references to the safety guidelines.
- Keep the operating instructions, so that you
can look things up in it at any time. Operate the
armature control and accessories only when it is
in perfect condition. Additionally consider all valid
laws, regulations, guidelines and standards in the
user country and at the place of work.
1.2 Intended use the armature
The control RF20M (EXmatic 450) is used for
the control of retractable armatures. The RF20M
(EXmatic 450) controls the cylinder of the retractable
fitting from the measuring position into the service
position and the automatic flushing of the sensor in
the rinsing chamber of the armature.
The armature control must be serviced regularly.
Set up a maintenance plan in accordance with your
process. Implement only maintenance work, which
is described in the operating instructions! Changes
to the armature control may be made only after
consultation with the manufacturer.
The manufacturer is not responsible for
damage which was caused by inappropriate
or unintended use.
1.3 Danger areas and residual dangers
The RF20M (EXmatic 450) controls retractable
fittings attached to containers and/or piping which
can be at pressure. Process liquid can escape
only during negligent actions and inappropriate
operation. Before start-up guarantee that the
attached retractable fitting is suitably and functional.
Read the operating instructions of the assigned
retractable fitting attentively and consider the safety
references contained in it.
Meet suitable preventive measures, before you take
the RF20M (EXmatic 450) in operation or when
attaching it to the retractable fitting
1.4 Resources
Only use checked and approved accessories and
resources.
Supply voltage Make sure you have the correct
supply voltage and follow the
information in the chapter “technical
data”.
Compressed Filter (40 μm), clean and deoil the
air compressed air.
Make sure that the pressure is
between 4 and 6 bar.
Rinsing fluid/ Use rinsing fluids and cleaning
cleaning agent agents which are both adapted
to the process, the retractable
fitting and the sealing material and
dispose of them properly.
1.5 Personal
Qualification Trained skilled workers may operate
and maintain the control unit only!
Protective The operating personnel must wear
clothing suitable protective clothing during
start-up and maintenance work.
Accident Observe the rules and regulations
prevention concerning safety at work
rules applicable in the country of use and
at the place of use!
1.6 Disposal
Observe the rules and regulations concerning waste
disposal applicable in the country of use and at the
place of use.
1.7 Symbols and pictograms
Pictograms and symbols are used in the operation
manual to provide better orientation.
