Appendix A Pour-Thru Cell (DR 2800 only)
CAUTION
Do not use the Pour-Thru Cell in tests that call for the use of
organic solvents such as toluene, chloroform, trichloroethane
or cyclohexanone. These solvents may not be compatible with
the plastic components of the Pour-Thru Cell creating the
potential for equipment damage and chemical
exposure for the analyst.
The Pour-Thru module is an optional accessory for the DR 2800
spectrophotometer. Working with the module improves
measurement accuracy, as zeroing, measurements and
measurement comparisons are carried out under the same optical
conditions. As the samples all flow through the same cell, errors
attributable to the different optical characteristics of individual cells
are excluded. The module is designed to allow the sample to be
introduced into the cell without having to handle the cell in any way.
The Pour-Thru cell module is available in two path lengths:
• 1-inch cell
• 1-cm cell
These two cell types can be used over the whole wavelength
spectrum.

A.1.1 Unpacking
Take the Pour-Thru module from its transport packaging and check
for damage. The Pour-Thru module set includes (see
Figure 17
Pour-Thru Stand Assembly on page 123 and Figure 18 Installation
Pour-Thru Cell Kit on page 124 ):
• Pour-Thru cell
• Stand including mountings for glass funnel and stand pipe
• Plastic tube: inside diameter 1/8" for the cell inflow and outflow
• Stand pipe
• Rubber tube: Inside diameter 1/4" (drain tube for stand pipe)
• Glass funnel
If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact the
manufacturer or a sales representative. Do not return the module
without agreeing this beforehand.
