Schreiber Engineering – Air Cooled Water Chiller

Model 30 AC – 230/1

This unit comes completely wired for 230/1.

To test unit as follows. NOTE: Make sure that the switch on the panel is off.

Connect close loop water system as marked. The discharge from chiller water pump to
heat exchanger being cooled. Then the return water and the chiller return as marked.
These discharge and return fittings as 3/8” NPT. The connecting hose can be rubber or
plastic. The discharge pressure can be 60 p.s.i. Be sure you use a non-contaminate
hose.

Fill the reservoir through the fill pipe on top of the unit. Be sure you replace the cap
when the reservoir’s filled. The water sight glass is marked at the reservoir proper fill
level and is also marked for it’s low level.

The unit does have a plug on the electrical cable. You must install a 220 plug to match
your 230/1 power.

With the unit properly plugged into the 230/1 voltage, you can now start the unit by
turning on the main panel switch. This switch will start the water pump and give power
to the solid-state control panel. This panel will light up and give you a read out of the
discharge temperature. This unit leave the factor set at 60

°F. You can read this set

temperature by pressing the button on the controller marked press to adjust should you
want to change the cut out temperature there is a small screw driver slot to make this
adjustment. Never set below 45

°F to prevent freezing of the reservoir coil.

With he controller set at the proper temperature it will control this temperature within

±1°

F.

In our wiring system is a low-pressure control. This control is set at 15 p.s.i. It is there
to protect the refrigeration system if there is a refrigerant leak. This control has an
automatic reset. Then the wire in series with this control is a high-pressure control.
Should the pressure in the refrigeration system reach over 422 p.s.i. this control will cut
out the voltage. This control is manual reset. Do not try to adjust these controls.

A NOTE OF CAUTION: Always keep the fluid in the reservoir at it’s proper level. If the
unit condenser becomes clogged it must be cleaned. Be sure you check the condenser
often. Does not take much dirt in condenser to cause a problem.

The refrigeration system is a medium temperature. Never set the controller below 45

°F.
