Chapter 9: UAD Delay Compensation
Upsampled Plug-Ins
Some UAD plug-ins use an internal sample rate of 192 kHz to achieve sonic
design goals. This upsampling results in a larger latency than other UAD plug-
ins. Therefore, they require more compensation to remain perfectly synchro-
nized with other tracks.
Note:
Compensating upsampled UAD plug-ins is performed automatically
by the host application when latency compensation is enabled in the host.

Compensation
Notes
• Compensating for upsampled UAD plug-ins is not required when these plug-
ins are used for program material on the output bus, where latency is not a
consideration (because the entire mix is delayed by the same amount).
• The latency in
is also produced when LiveTrack mode
) is used with upsampled plug-ins.
• Upsampled plug-in latency cannot be displayed in the
due to technical limitations.
• The Precision Multiband (PMB) and Ampex ATR-102 plug-ins have a signif-
icantly larger latency than other upsampled plug-ins because of their com-
plex algorithms. Because manually compensating for these plug-ins in hosts
that don’t support full plug-in delay compensation can be complicated, to
avoid timing errors in these hosts we generally recommend using these plug-
ins only on outputs, so no manual compensation is required.
Note:
Use the Precision Multiband and Ampex ATR-102 only on outputs (as
their design was intended), or only in hosts that have full plug-in delay com-
pensation.
