Pace-Edwards JR Series Rail Shimming - Manual

Shimming is required
on all truck beds
!! ATTENTION INSTALLERS !!
WITH THE NEW CANISTER DESIGN IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THE RAILS
ARE SHIMMED CORRECTLY. PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING
FURTHER WITH THE INSTALLATION.
Shimming is required to keep the rails parallel and from bowing out when the clamps are tightened. The goal is to
have the same “between the rails” measurement (BR) at the front (cab end) of the truck and at the rear (tailgate
end) of the truck.
The Chart below notes what the proper “between the rails” measurement should be for each of our canister
models.
Locate the model # of your canister by fi nding the Model # on the sticker in the upper left corner of the canister.
Match this number with the numbers on the chart and you will fi nd the correct measurement you should have
between the rails in your truck bed.
Before shimming and installing the rail clamps make sure the canister is centered between the truck bed rails.
IF A GAP EXISTS BETWEEN THE RAIL AND THE BED AFTER THE CORRECT DISTANCE
BETWEEN THE RAILS HAS BEEN SET THEN YOU MUST USE SHIMS TO PREVENT THE RAILS
FROM MOVING WHEN CLAMPED. (See drawings on reverse side of page)

If the exact measurement can not be reached a slightly smaller between the rails measurement is
better then a larger measurement.
