the door pull area with household rubbing alcohol then apply the adhesive
promoter (provided) to the areas and allow it to dry for a few seconds. You have
been provided with attachment tape test strips. Use one of these to test the
tack. If it seems to stick well then you can proceed with your installation. If you
can not get the test tape to stick please refer back to the special preparation
instruction sheet and repeat those procedures.
2. Starting at the very bottom peel a portion of the red release liner from the back
of the chrome trim and insert the trim directly to the door panels outer part of
the ridge (not the inner part) . Peeling the liner as you go, press the trim firmly in
place continuously until you reach the start point. You will notice some excess
trim, simply snip the excess a little longer and force the two ends into a nice butt
seam.
3. Detach the door speaker grille surround from the speaker housing. It should
simply pull off. You will notice that there are six areas to the inside of this of this
grille surround. These six areas will need to be filed flush so that you create a
nice continuous circle to the inside of the surround ring. We have found this easy
to accomplish using a common rasp file. These areas are small and they should
be able to be files very quickly. SEE EXAMPLE:
4. With the speaker exposed on the door you will notice that there is a beveled
edge on the speaker grille itself. This bevel is where the speaker trim is to be
mounted. Scrub this area first with household rubbing alcohol to prepare the
surface then swipe once with the adhesive promoter provided.
5. Peel a small length of the red release liner from one end of the trim and place
the end directly to the bevel making sure that you will create the seam at the
bottom of the speaker. Work your way around to the start point and create a
nice tight butt seam. After this has been completed simply snap the modified
grille surround back in place to lock the trim in position. SEE EXAMPLE:
