4 Mounting
4.1 General instructions
In the standard version, the PLICSRADIO R61 is designed for wall
mounting. Mounting adapters for carrier rail mounting (top hat rail
35 x 7.5 according to DIN EN 50022/60715) as well as for tube
mounting are optionally available.
Select an installation position you can easily reach for mounting and
connecting as well as later retrofitting of a display and adjustment
module. The housing can be rotated by 330° without the use of any
tools. You can also install the display and adjustment module in four
different positions (each displaced by 90°).
Note:
During operation, a distance of at least 20 cm should be kept between
the antenna and persons working nearby. Operation of the instrument
with smaller distances is not recommended.
Mount the device at a place and at a height where there are as few
obstacles as possible between transmitter and receiver. A direct line-
of-sight connection represents the optimum for the radio transmis-
sion. The radio waves spread out in an elliptical shape between two
antennas; this area is also called the Fresnel zone. For the maximum
reach of 1000 m (2.4 GHz) or 1600 m (920 MHz), no obstacle may
protrude into this area. The greater the distance between the two
antennas, the larger the diameter of the ellipse. At longer ranges, the
height of the transmitting and receiving antennas must therefore be
increased to allow the radio waves to propagate unhindered within
the Fresnel zone. The following graphic clarifies these conditions; the
table gives reference values for the recommended antenna height.
