Topic: D404 Power Divider Part Number Changes for Service
Affected Models: All D404 Family Drive Axles
The following part number changes have recently been made to the power divider sections of the models listed above.
These changes are not only value added by design, but also reduce the overall amount of parts required in dealer
inventories for serving the above popular Dana axles. Refer to the notes specific to the part for interchangeability facts.

NOTE 1: Helical Gear part numbers 127495 & 130907 are totally interchangeable. The 130907 is an enhanced design and 127495 is
no longer being produced. No other associated parts are affected by this change. These parts are used in ALL D404 family axles.
NOTE 2: Kit 510593 replaces kit 216226 in all situations. But kit 216226 cannot replace kit 510593 in the following specific models
DSH40(P), DDH40(P), DSH44(P), and DDH44(P) unless it contains shaft number 129770. Kit 510593 contains input shaft p/n 129770,
which is Induction Hardened for those model applications. Input shaft p/n 128704, which is NOT Induction Hardened, was originally
included in kit 216226 up to April 22, 2003. Beginning April 22, 2003 Dana began using induction harden input shaft 129770 in place of
128704.
