PINION CAGES AND INPUT COVERS: Dana has always offered Pinion Cage & Cup
assemblies and Input Cover & Cup assemblies thru service. These have the “original” bearing cups
installed. With the importance of making sure cups and cones are used in matched sets, Dana has
released the new assemblies with current cups along with the individual pinion cages and input covers
without pressed in cups. When replacing these items in the field, be sure to use the proper replacement
parts and cross check cages and cover assemblies for mating bearing cups and cones.
• Input Cover & Cup assemblies and Pinion Cage and Cups assemblies will continue to be offered
thru service. Customers should cross check which part numbers contain which cup design.
• Use the chart below to help differentiate the differences in parts and choices now available.
• When using bearing kits, make sure to install all bearing cups in all items that use them to assure
matched parts from the purchased kit are used together.
• Matched bearing cups & cones are offered in all Genuine Spicer Bearing kits, use of non
Genuine kits could cause mixing of parts and that could lead to potential failures.
• IMPORTANT:
The New and Old bearing cones and cups are manufactured by different suppliers. If replacing any
cage and cup for any reasons, be sure mated parts are used.

DO NOT MIX CONES AND CUPS MANUFACURED BY DIFFERENT SUPPLIERS .
