This bulletin supersedes bulletin JOI-TEC-058. To determine the length of the tubing
needed when assembling a Spicer Wing-In-A-Box kit follow the guide below.
Example:
A 6C Series shaft is required, with a total length of 1143 mm (45 Inches) in a fully closed
(collapsed) position over the front face of the bearing caps.
TOTAL LENGTH [Lc] = 1143 MM
SLIP JOINT [C] = DIMENSION C Will Be Needed (See Graphic Example Above).
TIGHT JOINT [D] = DIMENSION D Will Be Needed (See Graphic Example Above).
Tube Required (T) = 1143 (Total Length) minus Dimension C & D
Therefore T= Lc
–
(C + D)
T = 1143
–
(232.5 + 75)
T = 1143
–
307.5
T = 835.5 MM
Tube Necessary = 835.5 MM Total Length to Produce a Shaft Of 1143 MM at Closed Position.
