Installation Instructions
Thank you for your purchase of this Hotchkis Performance product. Your torsion bar set was
designed with the performance and durability you’ve come to expect from Hotchkis Performance.
Note: Please read the entire installation instructions before starting. Having the right tools will
ensure a smooth install process.
1.
Remove Upper Control Arm Droop stop
Access underneath the front fender and unbolt the droop stop snubber that normally restricts how low the
suspension can droop. Droop refers to the suspension completely decompressed (or hanging down in mid-
air) as it would if the entire weight of the vehicle was off of the wheels.
2.
Raise the Front of the Vehicle
Jack the front of the vehicle up and support the chassis with jack stands. Allow the front suspension to fully
droop.
3.
Loosen Torsion Bar Tension
Fully loosen the torsion bar tension bolt under the lower control arm on both sides.
4.
Remove the Torsion Bar Retainer Clip
Move toward to the rear end of the torsion bar and remove the retaining clip located in the cross member.
5.
Mark Current Torsion Bars
For future reference, mark each torsion bar that is on the car left or right. It is important to always put used
torsion bar back on the original side.
6.
Remove Torsion Bars
Use a torsion bar removal tool (Miller Tools C-3728 or similar) to grip onto the torsion bar and tap it out
toward the rear of the car. Note: There are different removal tools available and some customers have
made their own. However, we highly suggest that you do not use vise grips on the torsion bars. This can
damage the torsion bar by marring the surface causing a potential stress point.
