Problem: Your faxmodem is not communicating data
as fast as you expect.
Solution: For data communication above 14,400 bps,
make sure that the modem at the other end of
the telephone connection also supports V.34.
Follow the recommendation provided under
Tips for Selecting Setup Options in Chapter 2
for setting the port speed in the software. Your
faxmodem’s speed may be affected by the speed
of your computer hardware and operating sys-
tem.
If you are sending or receiving pre-compressed
data files such as BIN or HQX files, turn off the
faxmodem’s automatic data compression
feature before you call the remote modem.
Automatic data compression cannot compress
the files any further and may slow down their
transmission.
