General problems
Possible solutions
A handset can make calls,
but it won’t ring.
xMake sure the ringer is turned on.
xMake sure Silent Mode is turned off (see p. 9).
A handset is not working.
xCharge the battery for 15-20 hours.
xCheck the battery connection.
The phone keeps ringing
when I answer on an
extension.
xYou may have to change the line mode.
Contact Customer Service for instructions.
Audio issues
Possible solutions
Callers sound
weak or soft.
xMove the handset closer to the base or Range Enhancer.
xKeep the handset’s battery fully charged.
xIncrease the earpiece volume.
There’s a lot of
noise or static
on the line
xCheck for interference from appliances (microwave
ovens, TVs, etc.) or wireless devices (baby monitors, WiFi
equipment, etc.). Move the handset or base away from
the interference source.
xIf you use a telecoil hearing aid, turn on T-coil mode).
xIf you have any service that uses the phone line, add a
DSL or telephone line filter (see p. 14).
Caller ID problems
Possible solutions
Caller ID information
does not display.
xLet calls ring twice before answering.
xMake sure your Caller ID service is active.
Caller ID displays briefly
and then clears.
xYou may have to change the line mode.

Multi-handset problems
Possible solutions
I can’t transfer calls.
xReset the handset (see p. 14).
Two handsets can’t talk to a caller.
xSee if any handset is in Privacy Mode.
A handset says
Unavailable
.
xMove the handset closer to the base.
xSee if any handset is in Privacy Mode.
I can’t register a new handset.
xReset the handset (see p. 14).
xSee if you have 12 registered handsets.
Voice mail issues
Possible solutions
The new message icon doesn’t turn on
when I have new messages.
xAdjust the Voice Mail Tone
setting (see p. 12).
