Explanation of Each Item in the Display Category
Note
To know the factory setting for each item, see the above on-screen
illustration.
On-Screen displays DVD VCD CD
• Off: Operational modes are not displayed on the
TV screen.
• On: Operational modes are displayed on the TV
screen (e.g. “PLAY”,
).
OSD Background Color DVD VCD CD
• Blue: Blue background.
• Gray: Gray background.
Extended Subtitle Features DVD
Some DVD videos contain special subtitles, an
enhancement of closed captions for hearing impaired
persons. The DVD Player automatically displays these
special subtitles by setting this item to “On.”
• Off: The extended subtitles are not displayed.
• On: The extended subtitles are displayed
automatically.
Screen Saver DVD
• Off: The screen saver is disabled.
• On: The screen saver is enabled.
Dynamic Range Control DVD
• Off: Full dynamic range is maintained.
• On: Dynamic range is reduced.
Notes
• This function works only with playback of Dolby Digital recorded
discs.
• The level of Dynamic Range Reduction may differ depending on the
DVD video.
Karaoke Vocal DVD
The vocal output feature is used during playback of
Dolby Digital (multichannel) recorded DVD KARAOKE
discs. This feature allows you to turn off vocal audio
tracks, or restore them for background accompaniment.
• Off: The primary vocal is not output.
• On: The primary vocal is output if it is recorded on
the disc.
Note
The amplifier with a Dolby Digital decoder must be connected to the
DVD Player.
Extended Audio Feature DVD
Some DVD videos contain a narration track for visually
impaired persons. The DVD player automatically plays
the narration track by setting this item to “On.”
• Off: The narration track is not played.
• On: The narration track is played automatically.
