MODE
The behaviour of the fax machine in this mode depends on
who is calling and whether you are in or not when the fax
is received (in this reception mode, the cordless phone only
rings if the call is coming from a telephone). The following
diagram will help you:

SING THE TELEPHONE
When you pick up the line by lifting the handset of the fax
machine or by pressing the key on the cordless
p h o n e , y o u c a n u s e a l l f u n c t i o n s c o m m o n t o o r d i n a r y
telephones available on the market.
These also include the R (REGISTER RECALL) function,
activated by pressing the key on the fax machine or the
key on the cordless phone, which provides access to the
special services made available by the company that manages
the telephone network).
You can also use the following functions:
•
Call the correspondent using the phone book, see " To
telephone by searching through the phone book " and
" To telephone using the quickest method ".
• Put a telephone call on hold by pressing the
(HOLD) key on the fax machine or function key F3 ( ) on
the cordless phone. The call is resumed as soon as the same
key is pressed again.

The cordless phone also enables you to use additional, spe-
cific functions (see "

To be able to make a call, the fax machine and the cordless
phone must be in stand-by mode.

O TELEPHONE FROM THE FAX MACHINE
1. Lift the handset to engage the line.
The display shows:
ON LINE
and the length of the call in minutes and seconds in the
top right-hand corner.
2. Press the key:
The display shows the fax number or telephone number
and, if set, the name associated with the first of the 60
available positions (00-59) saved previously.
3. To find the telephone number or name of the person
you wish to call, you can:
1. Press the keys until the desired number or name
appears on the display.
or
2. Press the key bearing the first letter of the name you
are looking for. The fax machine will search for the
name in alphabetical order.
4. To start dialling, press the key:
Once the number has been dialled, if the correspondent
is free, you can start talking.
A FAX MACHINE is calling.
Your fax machine is set to re-
ceive automatically.
The remote party called just to
talk to you: at the end of the con-
versation, replace the receiver.
Your fax machine beeps for
20 seconds (set value). The
display shows "LIFT HAND-
SET".
A TELEPHONE is calling.
20 seconds have passed and you
have not lifted the receiver.
Your fax is set to receive
automaticaly. It will wait to re-
ceive a document for about 30
seconds, then it will return to its
initial stand-by mode.
The remote party asks you to
receive.
PHONE/FAX enabled.
After the
programmed
number of
rings.
Your fax is set to receive.
