Shooting in the Scene Mode Selected by the Camera
(Scene Auto Selector)
By simply framing a picture, the camera automatically selects the optimum scene
mode for simpler shooting.
When the camera is aimed at a subject in x scene auto selector scene mode, the
camera automatically selects one of the following scene modes:

Press the A button in shooting
mode to display the shooting-mode
selection menu and use the multi
selector to select x (Scene auto
selector) (
The camera enters scene auto selector scene
mode.

Frame the subject and take the picture.
When the camera automatically selects a scene mode,
the shooting mode icon changes to that for the scene
mode currently enabled.
Press the shutter-release button halfway to set focus and exposure.
Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down to take the picture.

Note on Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode
Depending upon shooting conditions, the camera may not select the desired scene mode. Should
this occur, switch to A (auto) mode (
A 20) or select the desired scene mode manually (A 33).

Flash Mode in Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode
U (Auto) (default setting) and W (Off) flash mode settings can be applied (A 28).
• When U (Auto) is applied, the camera automatically selects the optimum flash mode setting
for the scene mode it has selected.
• When W (Off) is applied, the flash does not fire, regardless of shooting conditions.

Functions Restricted in Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode
• Digital zoom is not available.
• The macro mode button on the multi selector (A 9, 31) is disabled.
• AF area mode (A 100) is set to Auto in i (Close-up) mode.
