Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Recommendations
Refer to the specifications section beginning on page 116 for the recom-
mended spark plug type and gap for your vehicle. Torque spark plugs to
specification.
NOTICE: Using non-recommended spark plugs can result in serious engine
damage. Always use Polaris-recommended spark plugs.
Spark Plug Inspection
Spark plug condition is indicative of engine operation. Check the spark
plug firing end condition after the engine has been warmed up and the
vehicle has been driven at higher speeds. Immediately check the spark
plug for correct color. See page 92.
CAUTION! A hot exhaust system and engine can cause burns. Wear
protective gloves when removing a spark plug for inspection.
1. Rotate the spark plug cap.
2. Using the special wrench provided in the tool pouch, rotate the
spark plug counterclockwise to remove it.
3. Inspect the electrodes for wear
and carbon buildup. Replace
worn or fouled plugs. Verify that
the gap is at specification before
installation.
4. Reverse the procedure for spark
plug installation. Torque to
specification.

9-11 ft. lbs. (12-15 Nm)
Previously Installed Spark Plug
17-20 ft. lbs. (23-27 Nm)
