MAINTENANCE
Rear Gearcase Oil
Always check and change the rear
gearcase oil at the intervals outlined in
the Periodic Maintenance Chart
beginning on page 67. Maintain the
fluid level at the bottom of the fill
hole threads. The oil capacity is 5 oz.
(150 ml). Do not overfill.
The fill plug is located on the rear of
the gearcase. The drain plug is located
on the bottom of the gearcase.
We recommend the use of Polaris ATV Angle Drive Fluid (or GL5 80-
90 weight gear lube). See page 124 for the part numbers of Polaris prod-
ucts.
Oil Check
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Remove the fill plug. Check the oil level.
3. Add the recommended oil as needed to bring the level to the bottom
of the fill hole threads. Do not overfill.
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
Oil Change
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Place a drain pan under the drain hole.
3. Remove the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely.
4. Clean and reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer. Torque
to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
5. Remove the fill plug. Add 5 oz. (150 ml) of the recommended oil.
Do not overfill.
6. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
7. Check for leaks.
8. Dispose of used oil properly.
