MAINTENANCE
W1730 Oscillating Edge Sander
MAINTENANCE
Regular periodic maintenance on your SHOP FOX
®
Model
W1730 will ensure its optimum performance. Make a habit
of inspecting your oscillating edge sander each time you
use it.
Check for the following conditions and repair or
replace when necessary:
• Loose mounting bolts.
•
Worn or damaged sanding belts.
• Worn switch.
• Worn or damaged cords and plugs.
• Damaged V-belt.
• Any other condition that could hamper the safe
operation of this machine.
Tables can be kept rust-free with regular applications
of a product like SLIPIT
®
. For long term storage you may
want to consider a product like Boeshield T-9™.
Frequently blow-off sawdust with compressed air. This is
especially important for the internal working parts and
motor. Dust build-up around the motor is a sure way to
decrease its life span.
Occasionally it will become necessary to clean the
internal parts with more than compressed air. To do this,
remove the table top and clean the internal parts with
a citrus cleaner or mineral spirits and a stiff wire brush
or steel wool. Make sure the internal workings are dry
before using the sander again, so that wood dust will not
accumulate. If any essential lubrication is removed during
cleaning, re-lubricate those areas.
