Electronically controlled variable-geometry turbo-
charger (VGT) improves torque response, helping
match engine speed to load requirements.

muffl er, pilot-injected PowerTech Plus

isochronous high-idle speed help quiet things down.
Cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), four-valve-
per-cylinder head, and high-pressure common-
rail fuel system enable the 6.8-L diesels to meet
