3. Check and adjust valve clearance to specifications
according to following procedures.
Valve clearance (engine cold)—Specification
Intake 0.35 mm (0.014 in.) ..........................................................................
Exhaust 0.45 mm (0.018 in.) .......................................................................
NOTE: If rocker arm is equipped with adjusting screw and
lock nut (A), tighten lock nut to 27 N•m (20 lb-ft)
after adjusting valve clearance.
4. Reinstall rocker arm cover and crankcase vent tube.

A—Front of engine
B—Exhaust valve
C—Intake valve
D—No.1 Piston at TDC compression stroke
E—No.1 Piston at TDC exhaust stroke

NOTE: Firing order is 1-2-3.
a. Lock No. 1 piston at TDC compression stroke (D).
b. Adjust valve clearance on No. 1 and 2 exhaust
valves and No.1 and 3 intake valves.
c. Rotate flywheel 360

. Lock No. 1 piston at TDC
exhaust stroke (E).
d. Adjust valve clearance on No. 3 exhaust valve and
No. 2 intake valve.
