document to an
FTP server
The FTP server
setting is not set cor-
rectly.
Verify the FTP server settings.
If you are unsure about the FTP server setting,
contact your network administrator.
TCP/IP setting may
be incorrect.
Verify the TCP/IP settings. (See page 2-2 or 5-
21.)
E-mail issues

be read due to
the file format.
Ask the originator to resend the document in a sup-
ported file format, “TIFF-S”, “TIFF-F” or “TIFF-FX”.
Cannot connect to
the POP server
POP server IP
Address /Domain
name has not
been set-up cor-
rectly or the POP
server is down.
Check the POP server IP Address/Domain name.

If the POP server is registered using a domain name,
confirm that the DNS server address has been regis-
tered. (See “TCP/IP settings” on page 2-2 or 5-21.)
If necessary, consult your network administrator.
POP userID or
password is not
correct.
Check the userID and password for the POP3 server.
Check the POP3 authentication method.
(See “SMTP/POP settings” on page 4-2.)
If necessary, consult your network administrator.
Cannot connect to
the SMTP server.
The SMTP
server has not
