Sanding Belt
Tracking
the sanding belt must track in the center of
the top pulley to avoid damaging itself and the
machine during use.
To adjust the sanding belt tracking:
1. disConneCt sander FroM poWer!
2. remove the sanding belt side cover and
rotate the wheels by hand to make an initial
check of the belt tracking.
3. slowly adjust the tracking adjustment knob
as necessary and repeat
Step 2 until the
sanding belt tracks in the center of the top
pulley, then replace the belt side cover.
4. Connect the sander to power, turn it on and
be ready to turn it off immediately if the belt
begins to move off the wheel.
5. observe the sanding belt as it moves over
the top pulley (see
figure 12).

6. slowly adjust the tracking adjustment knob
as necessary until the sanding belt tracks in
the center of the top pulley.
Note: Only minor adjustments are necessary
to fine-tune the sanding belt tracking.

there are many types of sanding belts to choose
from. We recommend aluminum oxide for gen-
eral workshop environments. below is a chart that
groups abrasive types into different classes, and
shows which grits fall into each class.

the general rule of thumb is to sand a workpiece
with progressively higher grit numbers, with no
one grit increase of more than 50.
