Call routing to the analog device ports
Because ISDN suppor ts two independent B channels, you can use
each channel separately. You can use the Netopia configuration
software to route calls on telephone numbers 1 and 2 to specific
analog device por ts. By default, incoming calls to ISDN telephone
numbers 1 and 2 ring both analog device por ts simultaneously.
Using the Netopia configuration software, check the box beside the
phone por t(s) to which you want to route calls from telephone
number 1 and telephone number 2. In the configuration software,
the analog device por ts are called Phone Por t 1 and Phone Por t 2.
Example
You might want to use call routing to exclusively assign a telephone
number to a device. For example, suppose you have an analog
telephone attached to Phone Por t 1 and a fax machine attached to
Phone Por t 2. To route incoming calls from telephone number 1 to
the telephone and calls from telephone number 2 to the fax
machine, you would do the following in the Netopia configuration
software. In the Number 1 area, check the Phone Por t 1 check box
and uncheck the Phone Por t 2 check box (this routes incoming calls
on telephone number 1 to Phone Por t 1). In the Phone Number 2
area, uncheck the Phone Por t 1 check box and check the Phone
Por t 2 check box (this routes incoming calls on telephone number 2
to Phone Por t 2).
