3.4 Installation
Location
When installing the AOD 1 System, observe the national and local regulations
for the operation of pressure vessels that apply at the site selected.
The site selected for installation of the AOD 1 System must be chosen so that
the guard screens people from the decomposition vessel during a test. The
responsibility for safe operation of the system always rests with the operating
authority. Please observe Section 1 “For Your Safety”.
Recommendation for operation with Guard AOD 1.3
The Guard AOD 1.3 must be positioned so that no one can stay in the unpro-
tected zone behind it.
Recommendation for operation with another type of guard
The operator must ensure that the site selected for installation of the system
permits safe operation, particularly taking into account features of the guard
being used.
The AOD 1 system must be set up on a bench or in a fume cupboard to ensure
clean working conditions. The system requires an electrical supply corresponding to
the data on the typeplate of the remote ignition unit and an oxygen supply (99.95 %
pure oxygen, quality 3.5; pressure 30 bar) with a pressure gauge where it is in-
stalled. The oxygen supply must comply with local regulations. Please read the op-
erating instructions for the Oxygen Filling Station C 48. There must be a shut-off
valve for the oxygen supply. Follow the instructions for oxygen in Section 1 "For
Your Safety".
