ner receives transmissions only when
a preset ID code is also transmitted,
and the ID code appears. In closed
mode, the scanner does not receive
transmissions if they do not have an
ID code or if the ID code does not
match the preset ID code.

Note: You can set AM and FM fre-
quencies within banks to open or
closed mode.

Follow these steps to select a bank
and change it to open or closed mode.

1. Press

CHANGING THE
RECEIVE MODE

The scanner is preset to the most
common AM or FM receive mode for
each frequency range.

The preset mode is correct in most
cases. However, some amateur radio
transmitters and trunked systems do
not operate in the preset mode. If you
try to listen to a transmission when the
scanner is not set to the correct re-
ceive mode, the transmission might
sound weak or distorted.

If you want to listen to private line or
trunking transmissions in closed
mode, you might have to change the
receive mode.

To change the receive mode, repeat-
edly press
