Cassel's METAL SHARK® COMBI Metal Detector is a highly sensitive multi-segment sensor for inspection of product
flowing along wide widths, such as recycling or textile applications. The total detection zone is divided into several single
zones, each about 11.8 inches wide. Due to the extremely high sensitivities of each segment, the COMBI Metal Detector
finds minute metal particles (Fe 0.5 mm) over the entire width (40 in. - 26.6 ft.) of the belt or product. With maintenance-
free design and high quality construction, the COMBI Metal Detector offers reliable operation in the most challenging

The METAL SHARK® COMBI is a high sensitivity metal detector that reliably and consistently senses fine metal particles
(FE 0.5 mm) over wide widths (3 ft. - 26.6 ft.) of the belt or product. The total detection zone is divided into several single
zones, with each sensor zone sized to meet the sensitivity level required for the application.

COMBI TU: designed for inspection of paperboard and more
The COMBI TU was recently developed to detect small magnetic and nonmagnetic particles in paperboard. The metal
detector is built as a multi-segment sensor, with sensor plates underneath and above the product to be inspected. In
thesystem shown, the total detection zone is divided into several single zones, each measuring about 14.5 inches (365
mm) wide. Paperboard moves without touching the sensors. Built to accommodate various paperboardwidths, a maximum
thickness of 0.31 inches (8 mm) is recommended, with a maximum deflection of 0.79 inches (20 mm) between the thickest
and the thinnest sheets. The COMBI TU can also be used for pulp paper, textiles and nonwovens.
MPI recently designed, built and shipped a Metal Detection system used to separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals from
ceramic materials salvaged in automotive catalytic converters. The system consists of a Cross Belt Separator which is
suspended above a moving bed of material from which the metals are to be removed. Material is then conveyed by a
Magnetic Belt Feeder to further separate these metals from commingled material. From there, material travels down a Belt
Conveyor with an integrated Metal Detector that provides the signal required to reject the non-ferrous contaminated
materials.
