Automated Fanner Magnets (Rack &Pinion)
Designed specifically for fully automated production lines
MPI’s automated fanner magnets with rack and pinion (AFM-RP) are designed for high-volume, PLC-operated production
lines. Unlike traditional sheet separators, an exclusive rack and pinion system rotates the magnet away from the unit face,
totally eliminating any residual magnetic field and allowing for safer and more consistent movement of metal sheets.
MPI’s automated fanner magnets significantly increase uptime by eliminating “double sheets” when handling oily, sticky or
pre-finished blanks in automated stamping, forming and shearing operations.
Operation
Automated fanner magnets utilize one of the basic laws of magnetics: like magnetic poles repel and unlike poles attract.
By inducing “like” magnetic fields into a stack of steel sheets or plates, repelling forces are created from sheet to sheet,
forcing them to separate. When a new stack is positioned, the magnet is turned off and the new stack is loaded. The
magnet is then turned on and sheeting fanning resumes, requiring no operator interface with the magnets.
Benefits:
• Designed specifically for fully automated production lines
• Eliminates any residual magnetic field, improving operator safety
• Speeds production; increases efficiency
• Enables easier handling of oily, sticky, polished sheets
Rugged Construction:
• All welded steel and stainless steel housing
• Powerful rare earth permanent magnet
• Able to withstand demagnetizing (actual loss of only 1/2 of 1% over 100 years can be expected, under normal
operating conditions)
Standard Features:
• Powerful rare earth permanent magnet material
• Steel and stainless steel housing
• Dual handle safety feature
• Lightweight, rugged design
• Automatic adjustment of sheets as stack decreases
Optional Features:
• Special mounting available
