CBS Series Suspended Magnetic Cross Belt Separator
MPI's Suspended Permanent Magnet provides a deep reaching magnetic field able to lift and capture tramp metal from high-speed product conveyor belts at distances
of up to 12" from the conveyor belt surface. An effective MPI exclusive designed manual winch, cable and collection pan cleaning system is offered on larger models. A
motor-driven automatic self cleaning continuous cleated belt system is also available.
Application:
MPI's Suspended Permanent Magnet Cross Belt Separators (CBS Series) produce the most effective removal of unwanted tramp iron from heavy burden depths of
material being conveyed on fast-moving conveyor belts. They are ideal for separating tramp metal from wet or dry, or fine or coarse conveyed materials in large or
small volumes. Safe and assured tramp iron extraction from product streams protects processing machinery, prevents fire or explosions caused by sparks, and
improves product quality. The lower profile design allows for installations where space is limited.
Operation:
MPI's Self-Cleaning Permanent Magnet Separators include a conveyor belt moving around the magnet to automatically remove the collected tramp iron from the
magnet's face. MPI's CBS Series separators feature rubber conveyor belts, adjustable take-ups, a rugged steel channel frame and a shaft mounted speed reducer with
direct drive motor.
Standard Features:
• Rubber conveyor belt
• 1 H.P. or 2 H.P. drive motor
• Speed reducer
• Permanent Ceramic 8 magnet material enclosed in stainless steel
• Adjustable belt take-ups
• Rugged, welded steel framework
• (4) Integral frame suspension mounting eyelets
Options:
• Dust enclosures
• Explosion-proof motors
• Special belts - metal clad - abrasion resistant - cleated (vulcanized rubber or stainless steel) - high temperature
• Zero-speed switches
• Foundry application packages
• Suspension turn buckles
• Tramp iron chute work
• Custom drive system configurations
MPI recently designed, built and shipped a Metal Detection system used to separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals from ceramic materials salvaged in automotive
catalytic converters. The system consists of a Cross Belt Separator which is suspended above a moving bed of material from which the metals are to be removed.
Material is then conveyed by a Magnetic Belt Feeder to further separate these metals from commingled material. From there, material travels down a Belt Conveyor
with an integrated Metal Detector that provides the signal required to reject the non-ferrous contaminated materials.
