ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Remove the existing winch from the winch post by removing the
bolts securing it to the winch post. These bolts will be replaced with
identical bolts and nuts supplied in the kit.
Remove all items from the box and sort by size.
NOTE: All fasteners supplied are stainless steel. Use an anti-
seeze material on the threads when installing to prevent gauld-
ing of the threads.
NOTE: The two power winch mounting plates are formed and
punched as identical parts. Orient one of them so the holes in it
mate with the holes that attached the original winch just removed
to the winch post. Attach it to the winch post using the new bolts
supplied in the kit similar to those just removed that attached the
winch to the winch post.
Locate the second power winch mounting plate. Position it as shown
mating the holes in the two brackets. Note that the two plates will
be offset from each other by the material thickness of the brackets
because they are identical. Secure the two plates together using ½”
x 1 ½” hex nuts and ½” hex lock nuts.
Place the support straps in position as shown and secure to the two
power winch mounting plates using 3/8” x 1” hex bolts and 3/8” lock
nuts.
They are also identical parts and will be mounted at the
same offset that the power winch mounting plates were.
Do not tighten the bolts at this point because the power winch
bracket may have to be readjusted once the power winch is
installed.
Place the power winch to be installed on the top power winch
mounting plate. Align the holes in the bracket with the mounting
locations on the power winch. Note that there are numerous power
winches on the market and the mounting holes will vary. If the holes
in the power winch mounting plate do not match those of your pow-
er winch, contact your local ShoreLand’r® dealer for the corrective
actions that should be taken to fit your power winch.
Once the proper holes are identified, attach the power winch to the
power winch mounting plate with the ½” x 1 ½” hex bolts and lock
nuts provided.
ADJUSTMENT
The power winch must be setting approximately level when it is be-
ing used. Once the winch post is adjusted so the winch strap is pull-
ing level from the bow eye of the boat, the power winch mounting
bracket can now be adjusted to level out the power winch. Remove
the bottom 3/8” x 1” hex bolts in the support brackets. Rotate the
power winch mounting plate until the power winch is setting level.
When level, align the holes in the support bracket with the closest
hole in the power winch mounting plates. Re-install the bolts just
removed. Then tighten.
Adjustment is complete.
