Gearcase Oil
Gearcase Oil Change
The drain plug is located on the bottom
of the gearcase.
Tip: POLARIS does not recommend tipping
the snowmobile onto it's side for service.
Any time the snowmobile is tipped onto
it's left side, always check the oil level
and clean the foam oil breather element.
See page 94.
1. Position the vehicle on a level sur-
face.
2. Using a 3/16" Allen wrench, remove
the drain plug.
3. Drain the oil into a drain pan. Allow
the oil to drain completely.
4. Thoroughly clean the magnetic drain
plug.
Tip: The sealing surfaces on the drain plug
and the gearcase should be clean and
free of burrs, nicks or scratches.
5. Reinstall the drain plug. Torque to 6-10 ft. lbs. (8-13 Nm).
6. Remove the dipstick.
7. Add 20 oz. (591 ml) of the recommended oil. See page 97. Do not
overfill.
8. Reinstall the dipstick, making sure it is seated properly.
