The tools and cleaning supplies listed will assist in the procedures outlined in Part VIII.

Charge batteries
Charge the batteries daily. See Part VII, BATTERIES, CHARGING THE BATTERIES.

Warning: The integral controller contains no serviceable parts. Do not open the
cover. see TROuBLEsHOOTING if you have a problem with the controller, and contact
your Graham-Field dealer if you have a problem you are unable to resolve.

Avoid knocking your integral controller, especially the joystick. When transporting your wheelchair,
ensure that the controller is well protected, especially the cables. To prolong the controller’s life, keep
exposure to extreme conditions to a minimum. Do not expose the controller to damp conditions
for prolonged periods. Always clean your controller if it becomes contaminated with food or drink.
Use a damp cloth and dish soap mixed with water. Be careful when cleaning the joystick. Do not use
abrasive or solvent based cleaning agents.
Perform the following daily and weekly control system checks as directed. If the control system fails
any of these checks, do not use the wheelchair; contact your Graham-Field dealer.

Turn controller ON/OFF switch off. Check that the joystick is not bent or damaged, and that it
returns to center when you push and release it. If there is a problem, do not continue with the safety
checks; contact your dealer.

Park brakes
This test should be carried out on a level floor with at least one meter (40 inches) of clear space
around the wheelchair.
1. Turn controller ON/OFF switch on.
2. Check that the battery gauge remains on, or flashes slowly, after one second.
