Access to the administrative and viewer web pages on the server must use a non-standard HTTP port, typically
“8008” or similar. Standard HTTP port 80 access is used for media streaming and is not available for web service.
Thus, a typical URL for administrative access would look like this:
http://nway.server.com:8008/
For viewer access the URL would be this:
http://nway.server.com:8008/viewer
To assist viewers and administrators easier access to the server, redirect commands may be installed in the
configuration file of the organization’s main web server to eliminate the need for use of a non-standard HTTP port.
The following are example Apache commands for a typical redirection:
Redirect permanent /nway
http://nway.server.com:8008
The above command redirects administrative access from
http://www.ncast.com/nway
to
http://nway.server.com:8008
Similarly, for viewer access this redirect command might be used:
Redirect permanent /viewer
http://nway.server.com:8008/viewer
The above command redirects administrative access from
http://www.ncast.com/viewer
to
http://nway.server.com:8008/
viewer
