2.8 Fluoroscopic Measurements
Use the following procedure to make fluoroscopic measurements with the Model 4000M+:
1. Turn the Power Switch to ON. The Model No., software revision level, and filter setting will be
displayed, followed by a FLUORO Ready or RADIO Ready indication, depending on the position of
the FLUORO/RADIO Switch.
2. Position the Mode Selection Switch to FLUORO.
NOTE
All fluoroscopic measurements are made using
high sensitivity and W/Al target/filter; therefore,
when the Mode Selection Switch is set to FLUORO,
the target Filter Switch and the Sensitivity Selection
Switch are inactive.
The filter setting will be displayed, followed by a FLUORO Ready indication.
Two to four seconds after the FLUORO Ready indication, kVp and R/min (or mGy/sec) values will
be displayed in real time. The display will update and toggle between the kVp and R/min values
very two seconds.
3. If necessary, rotate the filter wheel to the appropriate kVp range, depending on the kVp setting of
the x-Ray machine. The filter wheel setting will be displayed followed by a FLUORO Ready
indication and the real time kVp and R/min (or mGy/sec) values.
NOTE
If there is a hardware failure, an ERROR message
may be displayed instead of the Ready condition.
Refer to Section 3 – Theory of Operation for a
discussion of Error indications.
4. Position the detector as discussed in Section 3 – Theory of Operation.
NOTE
When in the Fluoroscopic Mode, the display will
invert when the unit is positioned upside down for
reading under-table tubes.
NOTE
To eliminate measurement error due to the “heel”
effect, position the Model 4000M+ so that the front-
to-rear panel axis is parallel to the tube axis.
5. Start the exposure.
The display will update every two seconds; the
displayed value will toggle between the real time
R/min (or mGy/sec) value and a calculated kVp
effective value.
