Assembly
Secure battery with angle and bolt. (NOTE: Battery
size-Group U1 12 volt 32 amp-250 cold cranking
amps.)
2.1.2 Assembly Towable Model
1. Remove from crate.
2. Install rims and tires onto trailer hubs.
3. Install trailer hitch to trailer frame with 3/8 inch
bolts, washers & nuts that connect under trailer
frame. Tighten to 35 ft. lbs. torque.
4. Remove snap pin on the hitch jack and rotate jack
to vertical position. Replace snap pin to lock
position.
5. Install hopper per instructions covered in this
manual, figure 1 and figure 2.
2.1.3 Controls and Operation
Refer to figures 3A & 3B
1. Engine Throttle. Changes engine speed. Push lever
to fast for starting and operating. Push lever to slow
for idle and warm-up. Push lever all the way
forward slow to shut engine off. Refer to engine
manual for further engine operating instructions.
2. Engine Choke. Use when starting cold engine.
Move lever to choke position when starting. Move
lever to run position when engine is running. Refer
to engine manual for further engine operating
instructions.
3. Recoil Starter. Used to start engine. Grasp hadle
and pull out to start. Refer to engine owners manual
for further engine operating instructions.
4. Clutch Lever. Engages chipper/shredder rotor. Pull
lever up slowly with engine running to engage rotor.
Push lever down to disengage rotor. With a new
drive belt the rotor may rotate with the clutch
disengaged. Within a short breakin period the belt
will relax and the clutch should disengage. If the
clutch does not disengage even after a break in
period, check pulley alignment and clutch mecha-
nism or return to your dealer for service. (See
Your chipper/shredder may arrive totally or partially
assembled. If your machine arrives partially assembled,
you may need to perform the steps in this section.
2.1.1 Assembly all Models
1. Remove the chipper/shredder and hopper assembly
from shipping box and pallet.
2. Install hopper handle as shown in figure 1.
3. Place hopper assembly on top of shredder frame.
The long side of the hopper should extend over the
chipper chute. The tabs on the bottom of the hopper
should be placed inside of the shredder frame.
4. Place five 5/16 x 3/4 inch bolts through the hopper
tab and frame on the front of the chipper/shredder
from the inside out. Place a 5/16 inch flat washer
over each bolt and loosely attach five 5/16 inch
nylock nuts to the bolts. Do not tighten the bolts
until step #6.
5. Place five 5/16 x 3/4 inch bolts through the hopper
tab and frame on the rear of the chipper/shredder
from the inside out. Place a 5/16 inch flat washer
over each bolts and loosely attach five 5/16 inch
nylock nuts to the bolts. Do not tighten until step
#6.
6. Place two 5/16x3/4 inch bolts through the hopper
tab and frame on each side of the hopper from the
inside out. Place a 5/16 inch flat washer over each
bolt and loosely tighten a 5/16 inch nylock nut to
each bolt. If any bolts or nuts are dropped into the
shredder, be sure to remove these before starting
machine. Remove items from the shredder area by
removing the discharge screen. (See Section 3 ).
7. Tighten all bolts to 20 ft. lbs torque.
8. Inspect entire machine to insure that all bolts, nuts
and screws are tight. Refer to the torque chart for
correct settings. Read and understand all decals and
instructions.
9. On Electric Start Models install 12 volt battery (not
supplied) into tray on hitch assembly. Connect
cables, be sure black cable is attached to negative
battery terminal and red cable to positive terminal.
